Service Description

Centre for Imaging Research (CIR) is a world-leading imaging centre at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden in collaboration with SciLIfeLab and RISE. It offers an exceptional and unique collection of core facilities for cutting-edge structural, functional, and metabolic in vivo multimodal imaging and endovascular/minimally invasive surgical techniques.

The core facility, the Brain Molecular Imaging Centre (BMIC), supports both clinical and pre-clinical research studies involving PET experiments. For human PET/CT imaging, the GE Discovery MI 5 PET/CT is a whole-body PET system designed for increased field of view to enable exceptionally high sensitivity, allowing AI deep learning image reconstruction. The PET system is mainly used in humans but can also be used for larger animals such as pigs. The system specifications are Transaxial FOV: 70 cm, Axial FOV: 25 cm, Spatial resolution: ~5 mm. Radiopharmacy CF, we then provide full service in conducting PET experiments. Our highly trained staff is comprised of PET camera operators, medical physicists, research nurses and physicians, as well as specialised staff conducting experiments in animals.
